I don’t know why I find it odd, maybe because she’s a daughter of a King, but why her birth date wasn’t recorded is odd.
Yes, they could have lost it throughout history, but we know her brothers; well one definitely, one is a maybe, and not a clue of the third.
Even though women weren’t treated in the same way they are treated now, for a princess, I find this strange.

What we do know is she was born in Paris, France to King Philip IV of France and Queen Joan I of Navarre.
Her three eldest surviving brothers will all become Kings of France in the years after her father’s death in 1314.

From an infant, she was betrothed to Edward; who will be King Edward II of England. Not only was she taught to be a Queen, but also given a good education for that time period. She was taught to read and consequently developed a love of books.

She was also a key player in the Hundred Years’ War; which is what made me want to start this blog in the first place. So in my next blog posts I want to talk about the very young Isabella marrying Edward, to the scandal 1314.

Stay tuned for that.
